Kill It! Kill It! Kill It! Posted 2007.12.13 by Matthew with 2 comments
So, we had dinner with the Olancho Aid volunteers tonight. Rob and Kristi live next door and have been having a bit of a mouse problem in their house lately. Kristi has encountered more than one mouse in their bed. While eating dessert I spotted a mouse running across their kitchen floor so Rob, Carlos and I trapped it behind the fridge, and then Carlos stomped the life out of it.

This put all the girls on edge a little bit and we got to talking about spiders, scorpions, rats, mice and chupacabras (right, Colleen?).
Before we left, Rob recruited me again to help kill another mouse in their bedroom. I broke a broomstick in the process, but Rob got the kill. Angel then decided it’d be a good idea to make sure our house wasn’t crawling with mice, so what did she find when she looked under the sink? Snake!
She ran to get the guard, Don Ramón, who’s better at telling the dangerous snakes apart from the harmless ones. This one, luckily, was harmless. Ramón gave it an unceremonious beating with our machete and then took it out into the street. It’s been quite the evening for little critters!

I wonder if thesnake was keeping your mouse population in check. We have identified 7 different species of snake in our yard and we live on a island. I have no idea what they’re eating but I’m glad they’re there.

snake = no mice.
Keep the snake as a pet next time? If you name him, you can’t kill him.
